Financial Planning & Analysis Manager / Finance Business Partner

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
Working pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office-based and 2 days working from home

Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys turning financial data into meaningful business decisions? Do you have experience working in a multi-site business, partnering with operational teams to improve performance and identify opportunities for growth?
At Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists, we are looking for an experienced FP&A Manager / Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the performance of our growing business, comprising more than 58 practices and growing.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to go beyond traditional financial reporting. You will provide clear financial insight, constructive challenge and practical advice to help our teams understand their performance, manage risks and make informed commercial decisions. Provide flash reporting of sales, gross profit and team costs monthly in the meetings.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked in a multi-site retail environment, so you understand the challenges of supporting different sites and regions and know how to translate financial information into actions that make a genuine difference.
What you will be responsible for:
Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Lead the preparation and development of budgets, financial models and regular reforecasts.
- Monitor forecast accuracy each month, comparing actual results against expectations and identifying where plans need to change.
Commercial finance and business partnering
- Build strong working relationships with Practice Managers, Area Managers and the Director of Finance.
- Provide constructive challenge and practical recommendations to improve commercial performance.
- Help managers understand the financial impact of their decisions and turn insight into measurable action.
Performance analysis and insight
- Analyse practice-level, regional and group performance across revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profitability.
- Ensure all material monthly variances are fully explained, with clear commentary and agreed actions.
Driving continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow and balance sheet performance.
- Ensure data quality issues are assigned, tracked and progressed within agreed service-level agreements (SLAs).
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who combines strong financial and analytical capability with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Somebody who has experience in FP&A, commercial finance or a Finance Business Partner role and most importantly, you will be a people-focused finance professional who enjoys working alongside operational teams, building trust and helping others understand not just what the numbers say, but what they can do about them.
