5 days /  40 Hours per Week Monday–Saturday, 9:00am–5:30pm

Salary £45k - £50k per annum

Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead our Chester practice (CH1 1LG). This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong optical background who is passionate about delivering exceptional client care, developing high‑performing teams, and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of a busy practice. We aim to deliver obsessively great service to each and every one of our clients via our Welcome, Discover, Delight client journey which is at the core of what we do.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and inspire the practice team to deliver outstanding client experiences

  • Support team development through effective coaching, feedback, and performance management

  • Build strong working relationships with Eye Care and Hearing Care clients

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the practice with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively

  • Manage all aspects of practice rotas, ensuring adequate cover at all times

  • Action all holiday requests within 7 days

  • Work collaboratively with other Practice Managers to maintain appropriate cover across the wider area

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Use Bayfields’ MI to monitor and maintain budget areas, ensuring spend remains within agreed limits

  • Maintain tight stock control, ensuring accuracy and efficient stock management

  • Drive the practice to achieve and exceed performance targets

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong optical background (essential)

  • Proven experience managing and developing a team

  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and relationship‑building

  • Ability to lead and implement change effectively

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated success in achieving targets
