Bayfields provide the local community with the highest standards of professional eye care, eye tests and hearing care.
Our thorough eye tests last around 45 minutes and include retinal photography as standard. Did you know that besides supposedly being ‘a window onto the soul’, the eye can also be an indicator of aspects of your general health? Our eye tests can pick up any problems with your eye but also with your wider health; a burst blood vessel you didn’t know about, for example, could be a sign of high blood pressure.
What about your hearing?
Whether you know you have problems with your hearing or were just wanting to get checked, why not ask for an audiology appointment with us? We offer free hearing tests, that usually last around 15 minutes.

Six stars if I could! Professional, friendly service with state-of-the-art equipment. Mr. Hoque guided me through the eye examination, making me feel relaxed. I was given a copy my prescription straight away without asking. They also adjusted my current glasses so they fit my face better. An excellent experience—I can't recommend them enough!
Practice staff are friendly and helpful. I had a thorough examination with lots of time for questions and discussion. I was very impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of the practitioner.
Only popped in for some non-prescription sunglasses, they had a good range of shapes and styles, although nothing under £100ish. Katherine was very cheerful and helpful, and also put up with my dad jokes admirably while helping me pick out a shape that suited me, since I had no clue.
I was treated with absolute professionalism by the optometrist, Elaine Brooks, who used one word that made the difference from all previous eye tests I have had and that word was, “comfortably”. As in, “which is the lowest line of the chart that you can comfortably read?” This made the world of difference to me and, I presume, the test result.
