Bayfields Opticians and Audiologists Wakefield
Founded in 1955, we've spent time making sure our community has access to expert eye care and high-quality and friendly service. For over 60 years, we’ve been helping people in Wakefield to see better and get more out of life.
Our eye tests are extremely thorough, and can include retinal imaging. When it comes to choosing contact lenses, we’re a specialist centre and can also offer FREE contact lens trials. If you’re looking for glasses, we’ll help you to find just the right frames, which may be from our designer brand ranges – including Wolf, Oakley, Christian Lacroix, Ray-Ban, Ted Baker, Tiffany & Co and Hackett.
Everybody's welcome, and if you don’t have an appointment then just pop in and we’ll do our best to see you if we can. Wherever possible, we’ll also do fittings, adjustments and repairs without an appointment. We’ll even make you a coffee while you wait!
Low vision aid service
We run a low vision aid service for those whose sight has deteriorated significantly. We can assess your eye care needs and advise you as to things which may help, such as eye shields, magnifiers and different lighting.
Part of the Wakefield community
We support Pinderfields Hospital’s children’s ward with Easter eggs and the Christmas presents we collect each year. We also hold coffee mornings for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Audiology service
We can also take care of your hearing, with hearing tests and access to high-quality hearing aids and helpful hearing care treatments which could improve your hearing.

Excellent experience. Mark is an excellent optician, very friendly and welcoming, clearly explains everything he is doing, the reasons why and what to expect. My husband and I attended together, I’ve been wearing glasses for over 40 years and this is the best experience I have had. My husband is very nervous and Mark put him at ease. Practice Manager Elaine was very welcoming from the moment we arrived and was so helpful in helping us pick glasses and explaining different lens and price options. I had a fantastic appointment with Faz. She is very professional but also warm and friendly. She quickly diagnosed cataracts which has been missed by my previous optitians. So definitely should not have gone to you know where!
The team at Bayfields in Wakefield are second to no other. Every interaction is professional with a perfect personal touch to ensure that you know exactly what you need, how to manage it all and feel comfortable in the knowledge that they are only a phone call away to help should you need it. I am delighted with both my contact lens care and my glasses (and sunglasses) and have even found the helpful tips with the multi-focal lenses helped me get to grips with those new glasses quickly. Always excellent service. Staff are really friendly and very helpful. They don’t rush you . The Gentleman who did my eye test was lovely. He asked lots of questions to make sure he got things right and gave lots of advice. I felt that he really listened to what I had to say. . My glasses were ready in a week. Thank you all so much
